Unhappy 2002 explorer interior light problem

Please help, when we unlock the Explorer with the key fob the interior courtesy lights come on as usual, only now after getting into the truck the lights will not go out like they are supposed to.I have tried everything ,i diconnected the battery thinking this would reset the computer, no change,so now every nite i take the ground cable off the battery so it wont kill the battery. If we leave it connected we fear a dead battery is all we will have Please help in any way ,Thank you so much. My wife just told me that while the lights are still on ,on the dash speedo cluster etc...the DOOR ajar light is on,hope this helps with finding the answer to the problem. All doors are shut ,and have been opened and closed to confirm that they are shut completly.

lubricate all your door latches really really well and open/close the doors a couple times. Its a common problem on the F series trucks.

basically the sensor is in the latch that tells the GEM the door is closed, and the latch closes enough to hold shut, but not far enough to trip the sensor closed.
