Ford Explorers Dieing out

Hey guys, This site has been a great source of information and Im hoping I can get a few ideas on a couple more things I have come across. My family has two Ford Explorers. Both are 96's. One is black and the other is red. The black one has 210k miles on it and the red one is at 170k. My question is that both are having some ignition issues as best as I can describe. After the motor has warmed up if you start it (say leaving the store for instance) the black truck has a hard time staying on and tries to die. Mash the gas pedal a couple of times and it gets itself going. The red one does the same thing except that it happens only when the motor is cold. Both idle rather roughly. There are no active codes on the computers and my code reader does not detect anything pending either. After spraying the motor down with carb cleaner looking for leaks I have come up empty. I have replaced the idle air contole valve on both trucks and the black truck has also had the control module that operates the idle air control and the egr replaced, this includes the two hoses that run in between them. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas, I can try
Thanks.
