429-460

Just wondering what ya'll thought about a EFI 460 in an old parts car I have for my 1970 Torino.

Heres the parts car it might go in.

The only reason this came about is if I decide not to put it in my big truck I may put it in here.

Just a thought what do ya'll think?

I'm a fan of the 385 series engines. I like the 429 over the 460 because you can turn some insane RPMs with one if set up correctly. The 460 does make more torque but who needs that much torque in a car? HP builds speed and I assume that's what you want. It appears that this car already has a donor shaker hood. All ya need is the rest of it and make it scream. The 429 should pull an original Corba 428 in the 1/4 mile with the same performance parts. I say go for it. These cars are not seen on the roads much so you would have a major piece of eye candy when finished.......and it would sound like it has an engine in it too.

Oh I hear ya on the 429 stuff but I didn't plan on spending all that much money on it.

It would strictly be a throw all my parts together type job.

This is my #matching Torino 429

I just don't know if I want to even fool with it being my parts car. And pretty far gone, I have a 54 bel-air in better shape that would be a better project. It just wouldn't be as cheap, b/c i have most the parts for the torino.

It would be an EFI 460, and the only way this Idea will come about is if I don't put that motor in the big truck!

What do ya'll think

I know my mod motors but not as much research as gone towards them, And the 385 series stuff is like a different language to me.

I'll be asking many questions, when the time comes, I was just seeing if people thought it to be a good idea or me just being retarded.

Only problem with a 54 Chevy is that there is nothing you'll ever do to one to make it a pretty car. My brother and cousin had one each and they are just not a good looking car. Neither was the Fords of the era. But another Torino would be worth some coins in running condition. Obviously hitting the lottery would be better but yer parts car could bring home some coin. Don't need the money? Make it a daily driver.

You know stoff I've been thingking about that alot here lately, if worse comes to worse and the EFI dosen't take well to the aftermarket parts then I could put it in my good Torino and change the heads and intake out.

And labnerd I'm with ya on the 54 not looking good, it's not a 55 or 57, but it was free.

It all depends on the mood I'm in when these ideas come about, I just have to much to do on the harley, and big truck to get side tracked now

I can only imagine your "big truck" with some big block torque

I know man, I'm thinking seriously about it. They main reason is cost, it's nowhere near as exspensive for a stroker motor in the 460 as it is in our 5.4's

Probably gonna ran a 5.4 S/C or turbo, while I part together a 460 but I want to stay EFI, just for reliability issues in the mud.
