Question

I've wondered the same thing myself and asked my dealership. I was told that there was no way, but like you, I'd bet there is a way if we just knew who to contact. The VIN is more that a vehicle ID number, it's also a production code and if you had access to the books (computers} it should tell you where your vehicle falls in that list of 3000 or like mine, 1of600. Problem is gaining access to the computer. Mine didn't go into service until of July 1999 but that don't mean it was produced late. Could be that the dealer was just asking more that the people around here wanted to pay. It was finally bought by a collector and only had 2,370 miles on it when I traded him my Vette for it. With Corvettes, it was fairly easy to find out when and in what order your veh. was made. Access to those records is made available to car clubs and others by GM. I haven't got a clue who to contact in FORD to see if they will do the same thing. Maybe some of the guys who've been die hard Ford fans longer than I will know more about how to go about it. If you ever find out, please post or email me cause I'd like to know myself.
