Ranger Brake Problem... anyone know?

Ok, so I have had my 94 Ranger sitting since January 19 when I bought my 04.

The time has come to drive to the wrecker and get a little money for it since my 94 Honda is getting parked for a while after I just bought a Volvo.

Last night I jumped it and got it into gear and tried to back up and it will not move at all!

Has drums in the rear.

I assume that it is the eBrak stuck on. It is released, but I suspect it is stuck on.

Anyone have any idea if that assumption on the eBrake would be correct or is it something else?

My biggest question is, how can I get the stinking eBrake loosened up?

I assume that the premise is all the same weather it is a Ranger or not and one of the Fordminds on here must know...

Take of the rear wheels and check. Make sure you have fluid in the lines an no air.

I should add to help the diagnosis, that once I get it in reverse and try to go backwards I do smell good ole burning brakes...

I also have a 94 Ranger with 170K miles. I just put manual 4X4 hubs in and spent a lot on maintenance items. It could be the Ebrake that is stuck, or the auto adjusters could be siezed.

If the e-brake was on all that time, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the brakes are rusted to the drums. Not so much that the brake won't release, but it is physically "welded" together by rust.

I had this happen on my Belvedere. She sat for 4 years with the ebrake on. I just pulled the release and pulled her backwards with a winch. Brakes popped loose enough for me to get in there and clean things up...

I was hoping that would happen when I threw it in reverse, but it didn't.

Wow.

I figured I could hook the Ranger up to my F150 and just tow it out and it woudl pop the brake free. Wasn't budging. Actually got dragged about 50 yards adn still didn't budge.

I was able to drive the ranger, dragging the tire and it still wouldn't budge.

I put the rear axle up on stands and floored it... nope.

I had to pop the plug off of the back of the drum and manually release the brake and also dump in about half a can of WD40 stuff (not sure if that is a great idea or not) and finally it is driveable.

Now my neighbor is saying he wants to buy it and fix it, not to take it to the wrecker.

I told him tomorrow is the day to decide or its going to the wrecker.

Ughhhhh
