2006 Escape Limited Gas Mileage
Bought my wife a 2006 Escape Limited with the V-6 for her birthday the first of April. Traded in our 2001 Explorer Eddie Bower V-6. It took us about three weeks to get used to the smaller SUV and about two days to like the mileage potential. We just got back from a trip in the Colorado high country and we got 24.3 going and 23.8 coming back with only 900 miles on this vehicle. It has lots of power and looks great - almost a Candy Apple Red color. I highly recommend this vehicle if you are looking for mileage, power, and good price.
I got my wife an Escape last year and love it as well!
Once we got about 2000 miles on the engine (the 3.0 V6 as well) we saw a marked improvement in gas mileage and acceleration, so things may get a little bit better for you as you move along into ownership!

Sorry it took me this long to get back to you. My wife's Limited is has all of the side air bags and the full size spare tire and no moon roof. We traded in our 2001 Explorer Eddie Bauer six banger and paid a difference of $14,000. This price includes a $2000. Ford rebate; a $500. bonus for the Denver Auto Show; and $1000. for financing thru Ford Motor Corp.
The key is, don't let them make money on you when you finance. Ford requires that you make four payments. So, on the first payment, I put the payment plus $13000. and the second payment was the payment plus around $500. The third payment will be less than $500. and the final payment will be about $28.00. This way I get the full benefit of the extra $1000. incentive and Ford only gets in the range of $50. for all of the interest. Therefore, the financing benefit is like getting an extra thousand bucks off.
Hope you got a great deal because the Escape is really awsome. My vehicle is an F-150 2001 SuperCrew. I am going to do my first couple of mods in the next couple of months. A Magnaflow CatBack SI/DO system and an Air Force One air system - it is going to be installed by a custom performance dealer and everything will be stainless. Have 42,000 miles on my Screw.
