*Pics* whats this foam in the door jam?

I know this might not be the right place to ask but this forum gets more people then the "other models and I would really like to know what this is today if I can.. so please don't move it until I can get a answer please.

I do the maintenance for my Mothers new 06 Ford Escape, and every time I wash it like today, I find this foam in the door jam thats very loose. Every time it gets wet, it almost wants to fall off.

Heres the pic of it.... can I rip it off? whys it there in the first place?

and of course heres the final product of it nice and clean! It's a very nice small SUV! Ford did great on this one!

but I really want to know what that foam is, and if I can take it off. Its on both driver and passenger side doors.

are you being serious? is it something to hold water back?? I doubt it though, I mean both of them or on the verge of fallign off and as you can see I'm lifting it with my fingers already. I didn't know if it had something to do with what Ford put on from the factory or something that was left on my accident since there not on there tight at all.

what is it?

Does your Mom's have rattles in it somewhere? If not, then it's probably the 'rattle-inhibitor'.
To be sure, check your truck, if no foam, then that's probably why you have rattles in your truck.

F**k it, I ripped the damn things off just now even though I have no idea what they are there for!

If it was something important that should be there, Ford should have used something more then just a flimsy peace of foam that was falling off anyways!

anyone know what they were there for though? I'm still curious to know what that crap was supposed to do.

P.S... that little Escape has it's first dealer visit coming up. I just noticed 3 of the 4 wheel cap covers the Ford Logo fell off? At least it's something very minimal, still a great small SUV!

She comes over once every weekend and being the nice guy I am, I make her dinner While she's visiting, I help her out with the Maintenance on her car! After all, she raised me well, so why not re-pay her for that?

Why rip it out? Why not take it off and re-glue it on with some new adhesive?
