Because you ripped part of you moms new vehicle off without even using that blob of gray matter in your gourd to try to figure out what it was for.
Ford put it there for a reason!

The very first reply by Zap should have kick started the synaptic process in your head, but it appears they are all dead.

I drove my mom's 03 Escape and did not see anything inside the doors. More than likely something they put on from the factory to protect it during delivery and the dealership was supposed to take it off when they got it.

Thank you! Finally I get a real answer! I was thinking the same thing due to how flimsy the foam was and just about to fall off anyway. If Ford knew it was something major to have on the door, they would have used something more then that flimsy falling off Peace of foam.

Thanks for the Information

No problem. I may be wrong, but wouldn't other Escapes have this if it was supposed to be there?

You know that everyone on this site has to have someone to pick on, especially when they have as much bad luck as you do

It turns out, ur the only one that was right!

I was at a Ford dealership today picking up something I ordered, and wanted to walk the lots of the parking lot to see if anymore Escapes had this foam in the door way.

sure enough, none of them had it, not one!

I'm glad I took them off now as it surved no Purpose and it was only for shipping!

So "Clonetek" whos the idiot now?!

I never said the foam had a purpose, I said you were an idiot for not finding out what it was BEFORE pulling it off.
Did you ASK someone in the SERVICE DEPARTMENT what the foam was?

As far as "who's the idiot now", my magic 8 ball says you still are.
You've proved that fact over and over again.

I bet the mechanics at the ford place send you Christmas cards for putting their kids through college.

My excuss is trying to find rattles as I drive!

I finally learned that every Ford vehicle rattles no matter if it's a car or truck or SUV. I don't ever remember being in ANY ford vehicle that does not rattle and sound cheap. I'm a Ford fan but they really gotta tighten up on Quality as they build these damn things. I'm sick of driving around trying to fix what shouldn't be there in the first place

My truck is the quietest vehicle I have ever owned. That includes Olds (8s and my Silverado rattled a lot more. It my have to do with all the tinkering you do.

I do the maintenance for my Mothers new 06 Ford Escape, and every time I wash it like today, I find this foam in the door jam thats very loose. Every time it gets wet, it almost wants to fall off.

Heres the pic of it.... can I rip it off? whys it there in the first place?
[IMG][/IMG]

and of course heres the final product of it nice and clean! It's a very nice small SUV! Ford did great on this one!
[IMG][/IMG]

but I really want to know what that foam is, and if I can take it off. Its on both driver and passenger side doors.

It's Quiet Steel. Don't you know that?

the 04-06's F150 are VERY quiet trucks! Those trucks are 20 times quieter then this Mounty I have, but the quieter of a truck you have (like the 04+ F150's) the more the rattles (if any) stand out. My 04 F150 I had, had far less rattles then this Mounty I have. I wish I still had the F150 if it wern't far the problems on that one, but my goal is either another F150 by next year or if I'm lucky get into the New F250 Diesel I fell in love with. So either way, this mounty is out the door in about a year.
