Remove Grille
I want to remove and then replace my grille. I have had the cover over the radiator off and my Haynes manual indicates the headlights must come out to remove the bolts on each side of the lights.
How do I get the lights out? If I pull on those 2 handles will the lights go back into position without getting them alligned by a shop?

Tellenberger,
I have had my headlights out twice since I bought the truck. Once for when I replaced the grille, and the second time when I installed the blue ion lights. I have had no problems with the alignment.

Yesterday I pulled the headlight. Putting it back I thought I was in a heap of trouble. I didn't pay attention to the direction the two handles were pointing and managed to get them in reversed from the way they came out. As I compared one side of the truck to the side I was messing with I discovered my error. It took a claw hammer to grip the tabs to pull them back out again.
My friend has an F-250LD and his are factory installed opposite that of the F-150.

When I removed my grille, I didn't remove the headlights, only the side markers. and it was pretty easy to.

Well, I FINALLY got rid of my "Jimmy Carter smile".
My dad offered me his factory diamond mesh grille. In keeping with the subtle look, I think it looks great!
Just about 5 mins. for the swap, overnight for the paint (it's nice to have a shop, and a painter for that matter). It didn't cost me a dime because we were painting another black car.
Most of you probably have this grille and are saying "whatever", but I really like it.
Side note- When removing the grille, open the hood, and look at where the marker lights are mounted. If you find 1 silver 9/32 screw holding each in, you do not have to remove the headlamps. Remove the two screws, the lenses pull straight out to access the grille mounting screws.
