Chrome or painted?

I've noticed alot of F150's that have the front end around the headlights and grill painted instead of chrome. The chrome on my truck looks as though it is starting to come off a little near the crack between the hood and fender. Should I paint it or is there a way to clean or rechrome it. It isn't terrible looking yet, but I want to be prepared. Many of the pictures on here have it painted with those nice looking Chrome grills and I'm a bit jealous I figured yall would know more about it than I.

Thanks,
S_Gibson

No offense, but I just got my 97 used, and it had the chrome bumper, (no fog lights), and the chrome grille on it.
I personally don't like the look.
I just purchased the unpainted, (different looking grille), egg crate design, and a 4x4 bumper w/attaching pieces, and the fog light kit, and totally redesigned the front end of my truck.

I will happily sell the stock chrome grille assembly if you want it to replace yours.

Got a stock chrome bumper too, if you want it............

Considering that the stock grille on both the Expeditions and F-150s are the same, they're pretty easy to come by with your better junkyards (the ones that buy newer wrecks).

You guys might check around there...

Also, as far as rechroming, I think you might have a little trouble (not impossible) finding someone to do it as it is plastic and it's a little more trouble to chrome a piece of plastic.

I kind of like the painted ones myself (then again, I'm partial)...

Yes, I do have the bumper just laying around, collecting dust.
Email me if you want it.

You can't paint over chrome plating - no matter what it's on - and have the paint stick. The chrome has to be chemically stripped. Trust me, it's not a fun process. You're probably better off buying the right part.

Any idea where to get a whole new grill/headlight area piece?
