Who has tinted their front windows of their ride...what %? Anyone had trouble with the 5-0 because of dark tint?

The % tint allowed varies from state to state. There are a couple different websites that list each state and the requirement, just do a search for "tinting laws". That should do it.

I have a regular cab 99XL with 35% tint on door glass and 5% on back glass (darkest you can go and be legal here.) Seeing out doors at night is no problem, but sometimes it is hard to see out the back window when there are no street lights, very hard sometimes to back a boat trailer in the dark! If you have a slider, you can open it and see with no problem though.

Thumbs up

I had the front windows (doors!) done at 35% transmission. It matches the factory tint on the rear and supercab windows. We hardly notice it's there when inside the truck. I wanted to see out at night so I didn't go to the 20% trans. because I do a lot of rural driving (no streetlights). Since its illegal to have any tint on the side windows here - I didn't want the "gangster" tint and draw attention to myself! If I ever see red and blue flashing lights behind me I'll have to lower my windows before I stop...

Don't know the %

But I had mine tinted to match the tint in the rear windows. So far I've had no problems with cops even when I got pulled over. I guess it really depends on you local authorities.

factory tint% from the factory??

Does anyone have any idea what %the rear windows are of the F150 trucks with supercab rear tinted windows from the factory? I am guessing 35%, but not sure.

I say just get the 35%, anything else is a waste of money and you can hardly see what you paid for. And to be honest, if a policeman busts you for the tint being "illegal" then you need to change towns or states. The cops better have more important things to deal with than a pickup with dark windows.

but if you get pulled over just make sure you put your window down before he gets to your door.....

Just keep in mind, if you have jerk cops with a meter, that a truck with air conditioning will already have a slight tint to the windows.

Example: Factory tint of 2% (98% of light will still travel through) and aftermarket of an additional 35% will be a total of 37%. Legal for me is 35%. My truck would fail under the above circustances if the local State Police tested the tint with their little meter.

back windows are tinted 20%. they can get away with this because everywhere the back windows can be up to 5% (hence limos, factory tint on SUV's, etc). I got 20% like 4 months ago on the front, which is illegal, and I have had no problems. plus it matches the back, different tint levels would look weird.

Well I may go with 20%, but...

If you get pulled over and roll down both front windows, can the 5-0 make you roll them up to test them with their meter. Cops are pretty **** in Iowa, dont want tickets everyday of the week for some tint. What do you guys think? I find it hard to believe that they can pull me over for having dark windows, and making me roll them up to test them.-

I have 20% all around I have never had problems in My state, (Neb.) Legal here is 35%. Only a few cops have the tint testers here. But I do know that in Iowa, it is a big thing and all cop cars are supposed to have them. So be Careful on decideing.

tint

If you ared planing on doing it your self, just call a pro tint place and ask what the legal limits are. Or just take it to a pro and tell them you want it as dark as they can go stll being legal.

I HIGHLY doubt a cop will pull you over just for dark tint, but if you see one coming, roll down the windows. The main reason why they have this law is so police can see in the vehicle whne they are walking up, make sure there isn't a passenger with a gun or something. if you have the windows down when they get up there, and you are curtious, they won't care about the tint enough to make you roll the windows up and check. if you are an ***, they will be too.

i am getting mine re-done soon to 5% front and back, and don't think i will have any problems.

Tint

i have 5% limo black on my front doors of my supercrew and on the back doors and the back window i have 5% over the factory tint and to go along with that i have a strip of 5% about 9 inches down the front windshield with a layer of 35% from top to bottom up front and i dont have any problems seeing at night and no one can see in my truck even during the day you cant even see me hand on the steering wheel when im going down the road but that is the way i like my truck to be but i wouldnt recomend anyone doing it even though the cops dont bust me for it but when i go on trips out of state i watch out for the cops because i dont know what they will do

35% front windows, 5% rear (legal limit in Ontario). I think you could go a little darker on the side windows of a reg cab as so much light comes in through windsheild and rear.

I also went with a non-reflective tint, meaning the only reflection is from the glass. This makes the sides look lighter (have friends with 35% shiny tint and it looks a lot darker).

Go as dark as you can, you won't be sorry.
