i busted the passenger side mirror on my truck. has anyone replaced one if so are they hard and how much do they cost.

 

about 5 mos ago, i busted the driver side mirror. about a week later i was on ebay and did a search and someone had a driver side mirror off an expy (one w/ the turn signal built in). Since the f-150 didnt come w/ the turn signal, i didnt think the signal option would work but it does; we come pre-wired. my Chilton's directions was really easy to follow, took about 20 min start to finish. Got the mirror for $35. Now i need a passenger to go w/ it but haven't seen a single mention of a mirror since
These mirrors are made by Muth (i think that is the spelling). They are only sold in pairs and cost about $190. but they are sweet.
My suggestion is to keep an eye out for a wrecked expy/f-150 and jump when u get the chance. Even better, if u have the dough, order the pair of signal mirrors and enjoy. Very easy install and you will love that blinker in the mirror. good luck.

 

I just had both of my mirror's replaced under warrentee because of weird cracking images on the inside of the glass. not sure what caused it but Ford replaced them both free. But.....The invoice charge on them would have been $368.00! so they aint cheap! These were also the turn signal mirrors.

 

well don't go to the dealership, regular power mirrors are 145.00 some punk thought it would be cool to bust my mirror off at school. I went to the dealership and asked if they can fix it and he told me it would cost about 230.00. I was like for what? He said that they have to take the door panel off along with the old mirror. They put the new mirror on then the panel back onand they have to paint the shell. I was like they are trying to screw me so I said nevermind and left. Went to a salvage yard and found a Black one bam bought it for 55.00 and put it on my truck myself.

 

98 4x4Flareside, don't worry about not having a right turnsignal mirror. When you need to turn right, just make 3 lefts. That will get you in the right direction, especially in VB.

 

Prewired? Even if we don't have power mirrors and/or locks? I'd love to have a set of Muth mirrors, but I'd hate to buy them, tear apart the door and find no harness, ya know?

I just bought a pair of CAL-VU Mirrors for my truck. Want to paint them to match my truck color. The OEM mirrors are large fold-away style mirrors that are durable. They have the black rough finish and are manual. But I'll part with them for $55 each or $100 for the pair. It will be a while until I have the new ones painted to match my pickup and ready to install.

I don't know if I will like these CAL-VU Mirrors because they are cheap and don't fold-away in case you hit something. They probably just break off. Don't know if I like that or not.

On the subject of mirrors, will the 2001 mirrors with the turn signal light outside of the mirror glass bolt up as a replacement for the earlier mirrors? Any idea of price?
I have read here that some of the earlier mirrors with the light in the glass have not worked out so well.
