Tailgate Lock

Does anyone else have a problem with their talgate locking on it's own? It seems like about everytime I slam the gate and then go back to open it, it's locked!

I've never had this problem but I might guess at it. It is possible you need to lube up the innards of the tailgate latch and lock. When you unlock the thing its not fully unlocking so that it doesn't take muck for the lock to bunce into the other position.

It's also never a bad idea to lube the crap out the the latch mechanism. Prevents freezing and breaking down the road.

Let us know what you find out.

WD-40

I've had to spray WD-40 in my tailgate mechanism a few times, the tailgate wouldn't actually LOCK, but the handle wouldn't open it either. Mine's a 97 and the tailgate works fine now.
