I have a 2002 f150 that we got at a great price but the tailgate had something heavy dropped on it so it's bowed bad. My question is what years of f150s would be compatible to swap a used tailgate with. I may even get lucky and find one that matches the paint at a junkyard. I see in the forums there is a "97-2003" f150 section. are these all the same body style? any info is much appreciated.

 

What style bed do you have? If I remember right the supercrew and lightning tailgates are the same and the fleet sides are the same. 97-03 and 04 harley for all styles.

 

You mean supercrew and flareside, right?

04 Heritage, not Harley.

 

its just an extended cab, long bed regular guy f150, not flareside. i'm hoping they are all the same between 97-03 so i can just bolt one on.

 

No bolts. It has a cup on the drivers side and a slot on the passenger side. Driver side first then line up passengers side... hook up the cables...done
