Just bought some new emblems for my 08. Got the 09-13 style ones. But my 08 ones say xl on them so I covered up the bottom part with carbon fiber tape(same ones I originally did my GT decals with) so you can't see the xl. So I decided since I don't like the model showing, I would get 3 of the tailgate ones from the new style for my truck. I haven't put them on yet but I think it will look awesome. If the alignment holes don't line up, I am just going to file off the pins on the new ones and get a little more 3m tape so its just flush with no pins. I'll have pics when when I get them on.

 

Ok a little progress....not on het but I found out the stock 08 emblems have two smaller round pieces that stick out to fit into small round holes. The 09-13 style emblems have two straight pieces on the ends so I had to break them off and file down the excess so the emblems will fit flush. I put 3 small pieces of extra 3m tape on each emblem. Going to try to take off the old emblems tomorrow or Wednesday and put the new ones on same day. I'll have pics when I do them.

Just some details about the install. the 09 emblems have a curve to them so the 3M tape only touches the truck but still sticks very well. I tried to pull them off and they don't move at all. You have to break off the tabs and file down the excess. After putting on the first emblem, I realized I should have shaved off part of the back of the shiny part arount the black. Took me about 3 hours mostly because the old emblems came off without the old sticky stuff coming off. i tried the dental floss trick and it just separated the emblem from the sticky backing.
