Supercab door shows open

I've been running into this problem with my drivers side rear door on my 09 Supercab. It is happening when the weather drops below 0 Celcius and if I drive my truck for 30 mins plus with the heaters on then the light will go off. Now the door is shut and secure, but the switch/sensor that tells the truck the door is closed must be freezing. My truck is past warranty 70,000 KMs so I would like to fix this myself, wondering if I could bypass the switch to trick the truck into thinking the door is closed all of the time? Looking for advice.

The problem could very well be in the switch, and you can buy the switches alone by themselves from your dealer. If the door is properly adjusted and closes right, this is the first place I would start. The switch is located in the latch assembly. It will have a light duty plug going to it, and it pushes in and turns about 1/4 turn to lock itself in place. Order it, change it, done. I assume that if you want to bypass it, you should simply be able to cut the wire, and strip/twist together. I would change the switch first.

So your saying I should do things the right way, not just to get in there and start cutting wires I am going to talk to my dealer today and price a switch, I am also going to check on my door adjustment. Post back on here when I get everything sorted out

I dug into my 2010 repair manual, and can tell you that beyond the shadow of a doubt, according to the manual in step by step form, the switch is located in the bottom latch assembly. Remove the trim panel, unbolt the latch, unplug the door ajar switch, and yard the assembly on out. The switch used to be a part you could order separate , but the manual doesn't list the switch replacement as an option.
