Cool

Did you replace the entire door handle, or did you have to cut the hole for the key pad? That is a very clean looking install. Did you have to add wiring? That is something I would be interested in doing to my '99. Any info on the upgrade would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

I wish I was that good. I can't claim any credit for that mod. It's a new handle from Ford, pre-painted(<=best part). All the info you need is in a thread called "Keypad entry, easier than you think" or somethin like that. I don't think 99's were pre-wired for it like the 2000 and 2001's are. Just haven't seen a picture of it on a Amazon Green truck yet so I figured I'd put it up.

2000 F-150 4x4.

You know, I was quite happy with the 4x4 decals right where they were . . . then you come along and show me just how good the truck looks without them . . . and 'Ka-Pow' . . . mine are coming off this weekend!

Thanks for the tip and the pics! Good lookin' ride . . . !

Bob

Thanks, BTW I used a hair dryer to heat it up some and my finger nails to pull em off About 5-6 quick coats Maguiers cleaner/wax to removed the glue. To me, it makes the rear quarter behind the wheel look larger and lower once the decal is not taking up space anymore.

So what your saying is my 2000 F-150 is already pre wired for keyless entry and all I need to do is get the new door handle, main unit, and remotes?

Please explain!!!

I'm not sure if it works w/o remote keyless entry from the factory. My truck had remote entry as an option. You'll just have to search for it. There are a few threads on the keypad install.

Yep, your truck is wired for it, Dreamin. All you have to do is remove the door panel, (the instructions are online and have pics to make it really easy to do) change the handle out and install the keypad. One hour or so is all it will take even if not experienced at this sort of thing and no special tools other than the a metric socket set.

Take a look at this thread for my experience in my 2000 HD truck. Also, within the thread is the link to the full instructions in the first post. Be sure to head over there to see how to do it:

Good luck, and you will really enjoy the keyless entry!

Yea I always lock the truck and it's nice to be able to get something out of it w/o getting the keys from inside. Hey HarleyGuy, your exhaust tip looks like its sagging or bent. Are all HD's like that? I guess it shows off more chrome that way though

If the sig picture were more clear (it's been reduced in clarity so it doesn't take long to load) it can be seen that is the way the tip is designed. And, yep, they probably angled it down that way to show off the chrome.

Anyone do this on a 2000 F-150 XLT without Remote keyless entry? Is it still wired for this.

What else would I need to add Remote keyless entry too?

Quick Question

Where did you guys find the unlock code? And can you change it? One more, is there any cool things you can do with it?

I've been looking at trading in my girlfriends 99 Sable for a Lincoln LS. The Keyless Door Entry system on the LS let's you close and open the windows and moonroof by typing in your code and then there other numbers. You can also pop the trunk (not that that's a prob on our trucks).

Just wondering. Thanks!

The code for keyless entry is in two places. There should have been a card that came with the truck in the owner's literature. It is located on that card along with directions on how to change it to your own personal code. The master code remains embeded in the system. The second place it is found is on the RAP module which is above the brake pedal up under the dash. It is a white box and there is a tag on it that has the five digit code. The only features I am aware of is unlocking both doors after entering the code by pressing the 3/4 button, and locking the doors by pressing 7/8 & 9/0 together. What do you press to operate the windows on the LS? Maybe they use the same system, but I doubt it. On our Audi, the option of opening and closing the windows and moonroof is programable by the dealer. Maybe that is possible with the RAP module in our trucks.
If your truck does not have remote keyless entry (the keyfob that has the buttons to lock and unlock the doors) then you do not have a RAP module and will not be able to install the keypad entry in the door handle. Some body was working on adding a RAP module, but I'm not sure how far they got.
On another note, those of you that did the keypad install, what screw did you use to hold the keypad into the handle. I am worried that mine is working it's way loose.

Biggins,
Which LS are you looking at? Mine does not have that and was not an option. But the remote will do all of those things if you want to. Just wondering. Mine is loaded out the butt.
