Question Sliding Rear Window

I recently aquired a used sliding rear window that was taken out of a 1997 ext cab because the seal was leaking. The dealership replaced the entire window for my buddy and gave him back the window. I now have the window and want to know Is there a way to buy a new seal for the window or am I just out of luck. I don't want to put this window in if it is going to leak like it did in the other truck.

If I were you, I would toss that window. I don't think it will be worth your time or effort. Might be why the dealership gave it back to your friend.

Take it to a glass shop and see if they can put a new seal on it.

I talked with the auto supply place about how to seal the window as well as a local mechanic they mentioned that ford had this problem with some rear windows due to the seals. Appartly ford had been using a rubber seal that was in a stock roll form. As they would install the window any disruption would cause the seal to roll over and not bond well. they said all the glass installers have gone to a rubberized type coating that comes in a tube - More like the front windshield adhesive. I purchased a tube for about $10 and installed my rear sliding window this weekend. Haven't had the truck sitting out in the rain yet only driving in it - so far no leaks.
