I recently discovered the rear-window leak is the result of a cracked slider frame.

Searching the web, there are several proposed solutions but the majority of folks recommended frame replacement. Are there any good after-market sliding ALUMINIUM window frame replacements for a 99 F150, or other possible solutions?

I got quoted 300 or so for a new window, slider, from the dealer. Call around to local glass shops, the prices aren't too bad from what I remember. Installation is easy and in a lot of cases they'll install it cheap.

Safeflite Autoglass quoted $300, I'm hoping I can beat that price or find a good aftermarket. Ultimately, I dont want to get another plastic one.

 

What slider do you have in your truck now? After installing a used slider that leaked through cracks in the frame, I did a little research and discovered that Ford made two types of sliders for the '97-'03's. The old type (identified by the edges of the glass visible) will pretty much all leak eventually when the frame cracks. The newer type (identified by a small plastic frame around the edges of the glass) seem to be much better ... I didn't read of any of them leaking when installed properly.
