Chrome mirror cap
Chrome mirror cap
I just recently replaced the mirror assembly on the passenger side of my 2000 F150. The mirrors have the chrome "caps" on the front of them. The problem is the drivers side is 11 years old and looks pretty rough and the passenger side is new and shiny. I tried polishing it, but I think the chrome itself is too far gone (probably has something to do with it being plastic). Anybody know where I can get replacements without having to replace the entire mirror assembly? So far the only thing I can find are covers that are held in place with 3M tape. Thanks in advance!
You should be able to buy those mirror caps from the dealer for about $40 each. Be careful when removing the old cap so you do not damage the mirror housing. The cap should be able to be removed by prying it off the housing using a flat blade screwdriver or a trim panel removal tool.
i wish i knew this about a month ago, i gave a set of chrome ones away that were like brand new. anyway here at the part #'s F7TZ-17D743-AB (left side) & F7TZ-17D742-AB (right side). Tasca has them for $24.54 each.
