Pics would be helpful. When you say dots I'm thinkin stone chips that could be easily fixed and most likely on the driver's side from passing vehicles throwing stuff against it. If they are raised up like little volcanoes from the metal rusting through from behind then it's get out the check book time.

no it's not raised up, it's like when you spray paint something and you get over spray everywhere, just little rust dots like spray paint

I covered that up for years, but it will beat yuh, eventually .. Clean the surface rust up with a clear coat safe product (they make them) and cover it. Clean the insides up as well. That will slow it down some. WD40 the bottom of the doors, -inside. The rockers as well. Poor design on the rockers, -dust builds, turns to mud and most people don't really wash out the rockers.

The only way to truly fix it is to replace the metal. That's where I at now with 272,000 miles on my 98. Michigan miles lol.
