I looked through 10 pages for a mirror caps search and found nothing. I know i have seen someting somewhere. Not that that helps you. Where you able to get the mirror itself out? That would allow access to the underside of the cap.

take the mirror glass and push it in slowly on the bottom and peek down the top of the mirror glass, you will see how the glass attaches to the motor, now take a long skinny flat bladed screwdriver and CAREFULLY pry the fingers off the motor and remove the mirror. i think there are 4 torx screws to remove and the mirror caps comes right off.

USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THE MIRROR GLASS~~IT IS QUITE FRAGILE AND WILL CRACK WITH VERY LITTLE PRESSURE~~ask me how i know LOL

I had my mirror caps painted by a body shop. Before I went there I tried to take the glass out myself. I busted it. It was thirty dollars for a new piece of glass from Ford since mine are heated towing mirrors. To have the caps painted it was $100 installed if I supplied the primered caps from Ford. I determined that it was worth it to have them install the new glass and do both mirrors for $100 instead of me potentially breaking both.
