Seems like it should be easy, but I'm having trouble removing the plastic guide from my spare wheel assembly (2L3Z-1A131-AA) on a 2001 SuperCrew. Any help/advice is appreciated.

 

Are you talking about the plastic guide? if so i just pulled mine off.

 

Yeah, the 12" tube that guides the tool that lets you raise and lower the tire. It seems like there might be "tabs" that hold it on, but I messed around it with it a bit and couldn't get it to come off. I didn't want to break it, so I didn't use a lot of force. I need to replace the actual winch assembly...so, you are saying it just pulls off?

 

Actually, it did just pull off...took some wiggling, but I got it. Thanks!

 

I need to replace my winch assembly too, but i havent gotten to it yet. So the spare just rides around in the back for now.
