Black keypad door handle

Has anyone found a place to buy the driver's door handle with the keyless entry keypad in black for a 2008 SCrew? Everywhere I look all I can find is chrome. Chrome is great but I don't want to pay for four handles (not to mention install them) when I only need one.

I was reading a thread on either this forum or ************** in which the poster was going round and round with the dealer about what would be involved in installing a handle with the keypad. That person had a very bad experience with his salesperson and ended up installing a factory Ford handle in less than an hour in his driveway and it worked. My local dealer tells me that is normally the case. Most if not all of the controllers have the programming and the lead is in the door ready to be used. I think if we can find them the handles install pretty easily.

I can find the chrome and color matched handles everywhere online but I am really hoping that I won't have to install all four handles.

I will install something sooner or later so I will post my results to let you know how it went. In the meantime anyone who can find me a black plastic handle please let me know. If someone is replacing their black handles with chrome let me know and I would be willing to buy your used handle.

I'm not sure. I would say yes, but that's not all that is required for it to work. There is a module in the circuit too. I don't think that module is in there otherwise, but I could be wrong. Let me do some more research!

I know my truck has the key pad capability because it has the code to use for the key-pad in the user manual, but it says that's the pin that is matched to the keyless remote, so I'm not sure if that is only designed to work with the wireless keypad or not?

Is it a four digit pin?

I just looked at the wiring diagram and the keypad on the door plugs into the Vehicle Secuity Module - which every truck should have. So, I would GUESS now that this would be plug and play. As long as that receptacle plug is in the door everything should work.

I think the door codes are 5 digits.

I stand corrected, yes it is five digits!

I had to go out to the truck and look. I never use mine, just the remote!

I've had the keypad in a few vehicles including my last Explorer. I loved having it and used it almost every day. I can't wait to get it added to my truck.

anybody seen any black keypad handles????? I assume I can order one from Ford but I am hoping to find cheaper. Has anyone purchased one from Ford? What do they charge?
