Rocker Panel Rusting

Its been sometime since I've bouced around the messageboard maybe I would have caught this earlier - but - I don't drive my 2001 screw xlt all that much - weekend vehicle lately- but found some major rocker panel rust bubbling under the paint this weekend - I see all the threads about the bottom door seem issues but has that TSB included the rocker panel - I was shocked when I saw it . The passenger side has it too. Really can't notice it unless you bend down and look for it. Anybody have this fixed properly. I'm way past warranty -truck is 7yrs/86k. I have the preverbally door edge as well.

Yea I had that as-well , My rockers are now Fabbed from an old Kenmore dryer and holding up fine. My beds starting to go now..Need to get in there and Line-X before it's to late. I have over a 1/4 million miles on this truck and live in Michigan - Lots of Nasty salt here in the winter..

I clean up the bottoms of the doors every winter in the shop - If I don't

That cancer spreads fast.

Yes , I fixed mine myself by cutting out the entire bottom of the rocker and welding in new steel . Duraglass then paint , looks factory . You stated the paint is bubbling (What does that tell you ?) The same thing that mine did . They are rusting from the inside out . Water is getting in the rockers from a leak , either windshield , rear window , third brake light , body line in roof etc. It seems to be a problem with 2001 -2002 Screws only .
