Sounds like your friend is mad because he got caught in a lie or maybe his knowledge proved false and he is just embarassed. Tell him to get over it. We all do it from time to time.

I know I probably come across soundling like a **** for saying that but COME ON!

How old is this clown? To say that he get's more mpg because of a lighter bed, then to claim he probably has the only carbon fiber bed in existence?

Dimwit taps on his wheel tubs and notes its not sheetmetal, so he then claims its carbon fiber....

Did your friend ride the short bus to school? Get him a T-shirt with this:

Tell him he needs to get this cover so that his entire bed is carbon fiber.

Well, he is sixteen, and this is his first truck. However, would it not stand to reason that if you had a lighter bed you would get better mpg? Your truck would weigh, what, at least 1000 lbs lighter, why would that not yield better mpg?

But yea, he is a little dumb and resorts to violence and name calling when he gets mad. A swift kick in the @$$ often shuts him up though

i dont think a full metal long bed weighs 1000lbs. the whole truck weighs between 4-6000 lbs. if everything in the bed is metal except the outside fenders im thinking maybe 2-300 lbs lighter at most

if he doesnt believe you about the fiberglass bed sides just tell him to look under the bed of his truck, around the wheel wells...not in the wheel wells but to the front and back of it, and he should be able to to the fiberglass fibers on the inside where there is no paint or finishing done...the new tacomas and maybe the tundras? have the full composite beds (they have that commercial where they do a burn out on a dirtbike or atv in the bed of the truck and it does nothing to the bed whatsoever)...but its definitely not saving anywhear near enough weight to warrant any kind of mileage increase....

Two grown men can easily (well with minimal grunting) carry a full sheet metal box assembly. It's big, and akward, and easier with 4 guys, but I have pulled many a boxes off with only one other guy in the past. I'm not super human, and there is no way I'm splitting 1000 lbs with any of you. Bed, at most is 400.
