lock cylinders

Well someone decided that my truck needed to be broken into, and took a screwdriver to the passenger side door lock ( how i know its a screwdriver that did it, it was still in the lock ) So my question is how much would be it to make a new one that matches my key? can they do that, or do i need a new key for a new lock?

Do you need a lock on the passenger side? You might want to find one that does not have a lock if you want to go that direction.. I can't say I've used mine but a handful of times.

Sorry to hear it! Ford trucks have very poor lock design, as you have just found out. A screwdriver is all you need to get in, very quiet and easy. Do you have keyless entry?

My previous truck had both cylinders damaged, the idiot did it wrong on the passenger side, so he went around to the drivers side and did it wrong again. I left them damaged for months, and only fixed them recently so I could trade in. It cost $875 to replace both door handles/locks. Mine were the painted type so it may be a little less for you. If you have the cylinder that is mounted directly to the sheet metal on the door, it will be considerably less. The dealership can match your key to a new lock cylinder. If you still have full coverage on the truck, insurance will cover the cost of repair, minus deductable of course.

search around for Jimmy Jammers on the forums and see what people say.

Here is the website.

If I was worried, I'd put them in and put the stickers on the door windows right above them. Some people doubt their effectiveness, but if you display the sticker then hopefully that will be enough to deter a would-be thief.

Luckily I have a garage, so I'm not too worried... my truck is usually in a busy place or in my garage. Plus I don't have anything fancy/expensive inside.

Sorry about your bad luck
