07 Screw door rattle on hard bumps
07 Screw door rattle on hard bumps
Just picked up an 07 Screw. I've noticed that when I hit hard bumps in the road especially during turns that the driverside rear door kinda makes a rattling noise as if it still open. I've checked it and it seems to shut tight and snug but it still seems to rattle a bit on those hard road imperfections. Any of you guys have any issues like this?

I noticed a rattle from the same area on the ride home with my '07 screw. I was very relieved to discover it was the trailer brake wiring kit, which the dealership had tossed in the door pocket. :o
I don't know what else to do except say look around for something, and maybe have somebody ride back there to try and track it down.

Yeah, my '07 Harley does the same thing. I believe support is lost when 2 doors are depending on 1 pillar for stability. My '03 Silverado SS driver's door was the same. There was NO pillar support between the driver's and ex-cab door. Maybe something we will just have to live with.
It is the driver's door on my 2007 Screw that rattles. I tried to adjust the latch in the door and the pin in the frame but neither one had much play. Is there any other way to tighten the latch? It is hard to brag about your truck to your friends inside when they hear that rattle. Please help.
Someone just answered this for me today on this very site... If I shut the quarter-door FIRMLY (not slamming) and make sure the top catch is fully fastened, then the rattle goes away.
Worked for me, anyway ...

EDIT: Might have made a mistake posting this... the OP is talking about a super crew ... mine's a single-cab ... Sorry

Well it seems this is a normal problem with these trucks. I took it upon myself to apply some thick black electrical tape to the latches and it seems to have help for now. The only problem is that it takes a bit more force to open and close the doors now.

I've got an '07 standard cab STX and I noticed this rattle from time to time. As already has been noted, if I firmly close the "doorette" behind the real door (keeping my hand on it until latched), the rattle is gone.
Does anyone have a schematic of the interior of the driver door? I got broken into last week and it wont open from the outside. I took the door panel off and now I see a rod that is looped at the end, hooked to the actuator but it doesn't seem to go anywhere.
Help, I cant get in my truck!

Not sure how much this is going to help you guys but the cargo door on my wifes Explorer was doing the same thing, rattling when we hit bumps. After fooling with it for hours I realized that there were 2 rubber stand offs on the trucks body that would in a way push the door out while the latch held it in, in essence keeping it from moving by using push/pull between the latch and standoffs. Anyways one of the standoffs looked a bit more smooshed than the other so I replaced both of them and problem was solved.
