That could be just about anything, including heat shields. Best thing I can think of is crawl under and start tapping thing with a rubber mallet to see if it rattles.

ok then, Its not that white stick in my bed either my buddy just tossed that back there to throw in the metal junk dumpster place, but anyways could it be the bed bolts? I really haven't found anything loose under my truck so i'm just confused. I'm gonna pull out that bedliner when it gets warmer to check that floorboard out, maybe a piece of metal broke under there & its under the liner flooping all over?

ws6_guyscrew,

Check your caliper bolts!!!! I just remembered upon reading a furhter description of your sound that it's the same sound my truck made after getting the exhaust done. It made it for about a month, I coulda sworn it was the exhaust and checked it 2 dozen times, nothing, almost sounded like it was the left front tire. Then on the freeway one night doing 80 i heard a nasty thud that sounded like a big *** bolt going right into the floor boards. I went wtf? and it didn't stop as well as normal and pulled a little when i was slowing, and once i got it parked it wouldn't move in reverse. Called AAA because i didn't want to deal with it, took it to Ford, $400 later, the bolt ripped the last 2 threads, and put a nasty dent in my forged steel wheel, and a full brake job and flush and I was on my way. The service writer said he had seen this on 4 trucks in the last 15 years he was there, made the exact same sound in a can you described. I know its a long shot, but wanted help you, and save you from the trouble i dealt with.

Edit: listened to the clip, exact same sound.....

just heard the sound clip. that doesnt sound like leaf spring shackle sound i had.that sounds like exhaust related.checked all your hangers??? my dakota made a similar sound when my cat blew apart in the inside.the pieces went all the way back to the muffler and were rattling like that.just a guess.

Nope, exhaust is rock solid, hard to believe but it is, but today I was messing around with the calipars which are solid too which surprized me, but, I found what is making the sound! The rotor shield I call it, is loose and is making the sound, heres what i'm talking about

So, is this possible for me to fix? With my wet dirt driveway if I put it up on a jack it would probably sink so I dont want to take that chance.

It's loose?? That's surprising... You'll want to look at that soon... the backing plate is what the parking brake is anchored too. Can't wait to see what else is going on in there??

Yeah its lose & shakes. Ok I'll have the dealer fix that when it goes in for new ball joints on Saturday, If the ground is still rock solid frozen i'll get the truck up on the jack and check out thats going on & whats decayed.

yeah I hope its a cheap fix. I dont think I will try it in my driveway without jack stands & or without my F250 being here either incase I f something up as usual lmao

Can I just buy the shield and have the old one replaced? I really cant afford to get new brakes in back. This is one bad thing about my F150 being the rust king....
