Undercarriage kinda rusty
Found a real gem, 1999 f 150 XLT 4.6 supercab,4x4 off road package, 47,000 miles,, body , interior, engine , top notch shape, runs great, great price.........thanks to this site, I now feel better that I am not the only one with a little rust under my 2 front doors at the bottom, (I almost fainted when i saw it) and the infamous door crack near the window bend.,,, but is anyones undercarriage rusty looking?? Is my awesome truck going to rust away before i finish paying for it??? Is there anything I can do to make the undercarriage more clean looking.. Someone suggested undercoating? Sounds messy . Any advice or thoughts to put my mind at ease are greatly appreciated..

Undercoating is the way to go and if you do it yourself it can be a little messy but not bad. The only problem is that the undercoatings found in auto parts stores don't last more than a year or so before they start to flake. A friend of mine had his '69 Camaro (ya i give him crap for having a Chevy too) professionally undercoated and it cost him about $100 and it looks great 2 years later. The texture looks cool and it is fully functional in preventing further rusting.
