HELP...Tailgate Painted

anyone know roughly how much it would cost me to have my tailgate repainted....

i was hauling 2 commercial yard spreaders on my 4 wheeler yesterday in the back of my truck when one of the bungy cords broke and rubbed an area about the size of a silver dollar down to the metal on my tailgate...i tried touchup paint but it still looks like crap

im not sure if the whole tailgate would need to be painted or not....just trying to get a rough estimate before i take it in to a body shop....

any help would be greatly appreciated

I had my old S-10 tailgate painted once and I think it cost me $100 cash. Tell them you'll pay cash and see what they say. And it would be easy to paint, you can just remove the tailgate and leave it with them and still drive your truck around.

but something similiar to you, I was helping my buddy move this past weekend and was hauling furniture in the back on my F-150. Well, somehow I lost my ratchet strap, I guess when I hit this big manhole along the road and the load shifted and popped the strap off. BUT luckily, it did not hit the sides of my bed or tailgate. But I now I need to buy some more straps because I use them to strap down my ATV.

I had a 1 foot long scratch repaired on my rear passenger door and it cost almost $500. I think alot depends on where it is and whether they need to blend the other panels to match. Luckly my insurance paid 100%.

Good luck!

should be 50-100. go to your dealership, talk to their touchup paint man that they use to fix scratches on used cars. i know im getting a HUGE dent under my taillight shot for $50, front bumper $100, gate should be around $100 if they do the whole thing, but the can blend it and burn in the clearcoat for less than that.

I got a small dent (size of a quarter) under the tail gate hadle from a trailer. First place wrote and estimate for $450 to fix dent, paint, clear, pin stripe, R & I handle, shop supplies, enivormental disposal, etc.

Went to second place and asked for a cash price with no written estimate. Cost was $150 cash money. I left the tail gate with them and picked it up two days later. Can't tell its been painted.
