F-150 Door Crack Survey ('97-2000)
#257
Power windows have nothing to do with the cracks and I don't think use of the door has anything to do with it either for that matter. My 97 4.2 4X2 Supercab, manual windows, (56,000 miles) has cracks in both doors and I can't remember the last time the pass. side door was even used (pass. seat is my mini desk!). Not a happy camper here,#%&^$* up 4.2 engine(dealer, what gasket problem?)(dealer, your power windows caused the cracks.I DON'T HAVE POWER WINDOWS! dealer,oh......pitman idler arm(another dealer, they all make that sound....) oem CD player with cds so hot they will burn your fingers!(dealer, its not that hot....) Thanks for the rant!

Cracked Door
I have a 2000 F150 SC 4x4 with 43k. The driver side door has the famed door crack. I contacted customer service who said there is no record of this problem with ANY Ford.
I checked the dealer; they said it is a known structural problem & it will take $1,800 to fix it, since the vehicle is out of warranty. I asked if they would share the costs, at least pay for the parts, the answer is 'NO'. I contacted Ford customer service, who say this is still not a known problem & deny that there are even any TSBs.
This is a known structural problem, you would think Ford would stand behind their product. I can say I will never purchase a Ford again. Customer Service is not #1.
I encourage all of you to post complaints to the National Highway Institute regarding the door cracks; you state Better Buisness Bureau; and your State Attorney General Office.
