Angry

Yet again found another collapsed paint bubble. This time on the drivers side ext. door right by the door handle. How many more of these will I find thru the course of its lifetime? I hate to think that I should expect more of these bubbles to show up.
Well there goes another 2 days w/o my Steed as it goes to the shop. I just don't understand it. My dad owned several Fords and never had a paint problem. Granted I didn't get an XLT or a Lariat, but DAMN! now its my turn and I get some half-@$$ paint job. Or do they just put XL on those they find to be half-@$$ paint jobs. I think I got Fords "Job 0".
Anyway thanks for the read.

The paint on our trucks are not perfect. However having said that, you should know that a lot of paint damage is due to the environment.

Rail dust and acid rain causes pitting in the paint. You don't notice it until you wax the truck the first time. The wax gets stuck in the pits and the light color of the wax really shows up against dark colors.

The first time I saw these white specks on my truck, I thought it was white paint that got blown on my truck. Got a clay bar and couldn't get rid of it. At that point, I looked at it really close and realized it wasn't overspray, but it was pitting all over the paint.

The dealer painted the truck. Never a question about it. The dealer did a great job on the truck.

They have repainted several trucks because of this problem. It's anything but unusual. In your case, if it's truly a paint defect and there are bubbles bursting all over the paint, Ford needs to take the finish down to bare metal and start all over again.

I recall reading about factory workers in the painting area using too much underarm deodorant/anti perspirant and this getting on the vehicles and this caused defects in the paint. It's been a few years since I've heard of this being a problem, though.

chrysler had this problem(paint bubbles) on thier neons. They actually made a recall on the paint.Appaerntly chrysler let the primer dry to long and no chemical bond formed between the primer and the paint. The only reason I know this is the dealer was giving my little sister a bad time and not wanting to paint it-until I went down there with her and told them what they were gonna do.

My recent paint problems on my 10/99 build 2000 were under the clearcoat. 50+ spots on the roof..a few on the hood and the surface was completely smooth..no pits. They told me that it "might have been acid rain damage from the factory." The spots were not there when I picked it up and I am **** about washing and waxing on a regular basis. I discovered them 6 months after purchase. Paint bubbles??

Dealership received assistance from FORD to trade the defective truck in for an identical factory replacement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Both Black paint from Norfolk.

I had a 1998 Black supercab, also from Norfolk, and traded it in when it was 18 months old..not a single paint problem.
