Post Anyone know how to replace rear window.....

I can't find the directions in this damned Chilton's book. Anyone know where there steps on how to remove/install these or could list them off for me.

Thanks,

The did this on Trucks one episode. You could probably check out their website http://www.truckstv.com . It looked pretty easy, there's four studs along the bottom that hold it in place.

Years ago, I bought a slider for a truck and it came with step by step instructions for the particular model it was for.

I think step one was "carefully remove old window".

Step two was "sweep up broken glass..."

if it is a extended cab remove the rear seat. Then take out all ove the interior plastic. Pull down the headliner. Then you will see two rows of nuts. Take out the ones closest to the glass. Once these are out put a screw driver or small prybar between the frame and the cab. pry out gently. Once it is started you will be able to just push with your hand. Then pull off the old sealant.

When you go to reinstall get the right stuff or you will end up with a leak!!!!! The stuff that is in there is called M-Seal. you can get it at a glass shop. Dont let them just sell you a roll of butyl. Its not the same. If they dont have it go elsewhere. It is made by Essex and comes in a box. The roll is long enough to do about 2 windows.

Good luck

I have had my slider replaced by the dealer. Then I had to take it back again do to it leaking even with a new window. The glass company that did it resealed the window, no leak yet. However, the seat back on the driver side is not tight(since they removed the second time), I looked to find some bolts to tighten it but didn't see any. Any help would be appreciated in locating the bolts to tighten the seat back.

well I have the interior stuff off of the 1997. I was planning on swapping the power slider from the 1997 to the 2000. I don't have the 2 rows of screws on the power slider. I have caulk. I guess that I will have to call the install shop to see how they installed the slider on my truck to start with.

And I was hoping that this would be an easy swap huh??!!

Say hello to Mr. Murphy.

I seen the Trucks tv show on TNN and it looked easy if I remember right you remove all the plastic trim that holds up the carpet along the back of the cab then remove the bolts that hold it in place and pop it out and put the new one in.
