Headlights
Can anyone advise me on the changing of the headlights on my 97 f150? It can't be as complcated as they show in Haynes and the Owners Manual. I admit I am slightly mechanically challenged, but I think I can change a lightbulb. What's with all this pull the bracket up and back, why can't I just screw one out and screw one in? Help!!!!!!!
The directions are correct there are 2 brackets that hold in the lights. They are black and form an L. you just push them towards the engine and pull up. You may have to pull kinda hard because i had to it was almost like they were stuck or something. Then you can just pop the headlight out.

It says the same thing in the owners manual you just pull up on the tab and slide it out change out the bulb and slide it back into place.

Ride_on The tabs pull straight up about 3/8" that's not far enough. Bend the tab toward the engine about an inch & pull up more--I used a screwdriver to help. The tabs will stick up about an inch when they are far enough. Then a lot of wiggling will get the unit out. Just did it last week.
The easiest way(seams like it would take longer but it doesnt)is to remove the markers. If you lake out the small(7MM)bolt out of the top inside of the marker. Pull it straight out toward the front. It will pull out a little hard. but it comes out the front, not the side. If you have this oout you can reach the tabs that are holding it in. This will make it easier to put back in. This way you can hold the tabs straight when you try to align them going in. Line up the center one first. Then the two outer.

This has been a great thread but makes me feel pretty stupid!
I really struggled with the drivers side light bulb change when I put in dichroics, disassembled everything in sight and still almost did not get the bulb in. Now i read the manual and, presto, it is easy as pie! Hopefully today my Hipers will come in and I'll get a chance to try them out.
