Question dealership sticker

I'm interested in removing the "dealership sticker" from the tailgate of my '98 Lariat, should I use some solvent to dissolve the adhesive or just try a peel it off, of course I don't want to damage the paint or leave a phantom sticker image either, what do you guys suggest?

If that sticker has been on since 98, I'm not sure if you're gonna be able to get it off clean or not. Usually people try to get them off soon after getting the truck. Try a hair-dryer to add some heat to it and see if you can peel it off. I would think trying any type of solvents might would damage the paint. If you are able to get it off, then try either lighter fluid or alcohol to get the sticky stuff off. Then use either a scratch remover or a cleaner/wax to buff the spot out. Then wax it.

Thumbs up

Thanks Tina, I bought the truck used about a month ago, and thought I'd try the expert opinions of how this might be accomplished without damaging the site. I'll let you know how it comes out...
