RCA cables

Is there a way to hook up the stock stereo to RCA cables? I want to run the DVD sound though the truck speakers if possible (without buying a new deck).

I think what he's trying to accomplish is get an RCA INPUT hook up on the factory stereo....?
I don't think that's possible.

If you've got the tape player.. you could just use one of the Portable CD Player to cassette adapters. Or if you can find an FM Modulator that accepts RCA plugs.. that would work too.
Of course, with both of these methods there is a good deal of sound quality loss.

I know you stated you didnt want to buy one, but you can get aftermarket Head Units that have auxilary inputs (sometimes direct RCA connections). This will provide the Input for the DVD player as well as have a huge difference in volume and sound quality from increased wattage of the aftermarket unit.

If you have your speakers hooked up to an external (from Head Unit) amp.. you could plug your RCA cables into the Amp inputs... of course, unless you've got volume control on the DVD player.. you're outta luck on volume control.

You should be able to find a decent aftermarket HU for a couple hundred bucks. Look for one that has aux inputs.

I prefer Pioneer head units so I'll just use that as an example.

You can buy a Pioneer unit with CD Changer control for like 200 bucks (maybe slightly more).. then just pick up Pioneer's IP-BUS (CD Changer plug) to RCA adapter for about $30 and you're all set. Plug your DVD RCA plugs into the adapter RCA's and just switch the Pioneer Head Unit to Aux. and you're listening to your DVD.

I will probably go with the Pioneer unit eventually (I have some expericence with them, and I liked it) .

I drove quite a few hours this last weekend and the LCD screen worked great for watching movies. The only problem was it was hard to hear the tiny speakers over my exhaust (when sitting in the back seat). Right now, I will probably go with the cassette tape adapter plugged into the LCD monitor's headphone jack. I am driving to 'Vegas (about an 8 hour drive) so I need a quick fix.

Thanks for your help!
