Does any one out there have any input on XM radios? Is it worth the money? Is the quality of the music like cds? Any info would be great.

Thumbs up

I've had it for about three months now. I have only listened to the radio once (AM) for a traffic report. I'm thinking if it was'nt for local News, i'd take my anntenna right off. I took my 6-disk CD player out. I never use it anymore.

It's **********' great! Well worth $10 a month. If you get a direct (bus cable) set-up, it's as clear or clearer than a CD. A modulated set-up would sound about the same as a modulated CD changer i would imagine.

I have no complaints at all. In fact, i'm going to get a Ski-Fy so i can have it in all my cars, and in the house.

You can always tell an XM listener, ther're the ones who are smileing for no apparent reason as they drive by, and they always sit in their truck for a minute or so after they arrive somewhere.

What kind of music do you like?

I have Sirius and love it. Selling point of Sirius, all of the music channels are indeed commercial free - that's the reason I went with Sirius over XM. From what I've seen and read, the FM modulated systems do not sound as good as the direct connect systems(XM or Sirius), obviously due to the limitations of FM frequency response. That led me to go with a Kenwood system.
Next year, Sirius will be offered with new Ford, Chrysler, and BMW vehicles along with a few other marques. XM has teamed with GM and other mfgs.

Sirius is offering a $75 rebate for new customers. I was also able to get another $80 in rebates through Kenwood and Crutchfield when I purchased my system.

I am extremely pleased with my Sirius system. I have not played a CD since I got it and am probably going to quit hauling my CD's around in my truck. Check them both out and pick which one you like the best. You won't regret the purchase.

BTW, I am not associated, affiliated nor do I stand to benefit from promotion of Sirius radio. Just a very happy customer.

Regards,

Hey,
thanks guys for all of your input. Sounds like i need to get one very soon. Sometimes i get really sick of handling cds. I believe my deck is XM ready. Mostly i listen to rap, but i do listen to dance, alternative, and some metal. I like things with base, even though i dont have any subs yet. I am hoping on getting some soon though. Thanks again, Joel

Get some subs and pull upto the gas station playing the playboy channel as loud as possible. I think it would be fun todo. Just to see the expression on peoples faces or better yet get pulled over by the cops playing that. I wonder what they would charge you with.

XM, hands down, is the best $10 I spend per month. I've had it for about 4 months now and honestly, have only listened to FM or a CD once or twice in that entire time...

The playboy channel is an additional $2.99/mnth.

Digital quality music and an assortment that is mind-boggling... XM is the future of radio.

I LOVE IT!

Yea, that would be bad. But, i'll tell you the best thing i've ever done like that. Have you heard that song on Dr. Dre's 2001 cd, where they are all having sex? Well, if you havent, its a guy and like a bunch of girls , and all of the girls are screaming and stuff like that. Last year i was a junior in high school, and during lunch period me and a couple of my friends had went to Burger King or something like that, and we were in my friends family van with a loud system. On our way back to school we decided to drive by the Junior high school, middle school or whatever it is called. All of the kids were outside eating or playing, so we got in the back of the van and closed the shades, and my friend put on that one track(REALLY LOUD) and drove really slow by all the kids, while we rocked the van back and forth. It was sooooo funny. My friends were like "dude some ppl were having sex in this van that went by the school"
