Angry engine noise through the radio

I have started to get engine noise through my radio! It seems to come through on FM only. Not the pape player. Bad ground? Antenna cable to close to something? I can't find the problem. The truck is a 2000 model XLT. Anyone had this problem and how do I fix it?

You already mentioned it, Bad Ground. That would be the first plae to start. Theonly way to find the noise is through methodical troubleshooting. Next go to RCA cables, speaker wires etc. Make sure to check conditon of the wires as well as placement. You want to avoid running power wires near any RCA or speaker cable.Don't forget to check the connections on everything as well.
Good Luck.

Yes, check the ground. Could be a short or maybe
not connected all the way.

Just my 2¢

I doubt that it is the ground since it only does it on FM if it did it on Tape AM and FM then i would say check your connections such as ground and so on but this is possibly the radio itself since the function is on fm only it could quite possibly be internal functions not anything to do with external.

Not sure if you're still inside your warranty or not but, I'd start there. Plus, if you continue having problems and you're not inside warranty, I have the AM/FM/CASS with Changer for sale for minimum $.

I have to agree with Ascii though. It seems it would do it all the time if it were a ground problem. Also odd that it just started 'all at once' rather than a slow, gradual decline in reception.

I know I didn't help much but, good luck solving your problem.
