Question CD/Cassette Double Din In-dash Unit

Has anyone installed a in dash double din unit in their 97-98 truck? I was looking to purchase a JVC double din CD/Cassette player for my 98 F150 and the installer claimed it might not fit, it would not fill the frame inside the dash, etc. Basically, I left feeling the guy did not want to do the work because there was some cutting involved. This was at Circuit City.

Please advise...thanks.

From what I understand, it can be done but some minor cutting is required. The stock HU is made like a single DIN on the bottom half and the top half angles down near the back. The part of the dash that needs cutting out is plastic and can be removed with a moto tool pretty easily. There is a thread around here somewhere with some pictures of the install.

Good luck!

Robdude30,

Thanks for the advice. I got the system installed today...looks great and has an amazing sound, even with the factory speakers.
