Question Apline or Premier for a Head unit??

Can anyone help. I am in the market looking for a an aftermarket head unit and I have narrowed it down to Apline or Premier (Pioneer). Any suggestions? I am going to be spending about $400 bucks so I want to make sure I make the right decision. Please help before I make the buy
Thanks OPIPE

I've always bought Alpine, but Pioneer has some pretty good headunits too. I don't think you could go wrong with either in that price range.

I have a Premier P930 and I'm happy with it. It has eye candy yes, but it is also a very powerful (feature wise) head unit. I never listened to any of the alpine units so I'm not sure how they perform. Though I think when you get to this level you are more likely than not to be interested in the HU's advanced features and/or looks. You should get great performance for that price from just about all of the quality manufacturers.

I've owned a couple of each over the years and both brands were good to me. I feel that the Pioneers have a better tuner, which is important to me. I do alot of station surfin'. ( XM, here I come!)
I could do without all the glitzy display stuff, however.

OPIPE!

Hey if you havent already got a head unit, I am looking to sell my alpine 7977 I bought last may. I have replaced it with a more expensive eclipse head unit. Would like to get around 275 for it, but will take best offer. Here is a link to get the specs on the deck. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, only one noticible scratch on the face detatch button. Works perfect. Here are some pics of it in my truck. Drop me an email at westercamp@home.com
