Question Headunit mounting kits

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a mounting kit that uses the extra space available in the doubledin opening for a storage compartment?

I've seen this type of mounting kit before. It was on a Honda or some other rice burner. The OEM deck was a double din sized deack (like these ford ones) With that mounting kit, the new aftermarket (1/2 DIN ) was mounted against the top of the opening and underneath it, you got a nice little storeage pocket.

Does anyone know if this is available for our trucks?

Thumbs up I've got the same thing except...

Mine is made by Metra. I just bought it at the local Circuit City.

I got mine at Crutchfield.com. I have a 97, the storage compartment is over the radio. Friends got a 99 with a Crutchfield install kit, he was able to put his radio above the compartment. I've seen the things available at wal-mart for like 15 dollars, but the plastic just looks crappy. The angles aren't as smooth. You should be able to find a good one anywhere that sells/installs high end audio.

By the way, the Ford radios aren't true double-din. Leave it up to Ford to make an in-between size.
