Need Sound System Advice
I want to upgrade the sound system in my Screw.
I know there is a stereo forum but I wanted screw input
I want a good clear sound system that can be payed loud but not super widow shaking-- door & truck rumbling bass......... that is not to say I do not want good bass.
lets face it I am over 40 and not trying to be 20 ( but I do like linkin park and up to date music not drums with brushes )
Speaker suggestions ???
I think I have found the head unit it is an alpine
do i need an amplifer?
is a subwoofer recomended?
approx cost for each thing you reccomend.....please
I have my truck running fine now I want it to sound good too
thanks so much
Mike

Speakers - 6.5s preferably or 5.25/5x7 if you don't want to cut some metal
Amp - If you want subs you have to have an amp. Amping your front speakers will make them much louder and cleaner sounding especially if you go with a set of higher power handling speakers.
Subs - Once you have em you can't live without them.
Cost - Is all up to you. There is always a product to match your dollar amount.
Feel free to get a hold of me if you want some #s and product recommendations.

If you want 'quality sound' and bass, then
Amp is an absolute must have, but you only need about 50 watts/channel.
If you don't have passengers in the back much, then just change the speakers up front. You have the full four doors, right? So this gets a little tricky if you want sound in the back. If you do, I would not add any tweeters, just drivers, to keep the sound image upfront.
Bass, only comes from big speakers, 10" would be recommended, two if you can fit them. I doubt you could fit 12's. 8's would be the absolute lowest but is a compromise.
Speakers, up front, 5-1/4 driver with 1" silk tweeter, and seperate crossover. Rear, 5-1/4" drivers. Bass under rear seat, one or two 10's.
I am going with 5-1/4's instead of 6.5"s because they are easier to install, and blend better with the 10's. Everything is a compromise, and going with the 6.5's gets more low end, but sacrifices the middle, which you don't care about if you have the 10" subs.
I have all CDT Audio, the HD52DTs upfront and a single MS100 sub. It won't break windows, but sound quality is excellent. If you decide on these email and I will tell you where I bought mine for less.
Radio, Amp, Speakers, Sub - $1400 of so.
I kept my factory radio, and built my own sub enclosure.
