CD Player Problem

I have a factory Ford radio and CD Player. My CD Player all of a sudden quit working. No power, no nothing. The radio says "NO CD". It will not even eject. (OK..I think you get the picture)

The dealer told me I need to get a new wire harness that it has most likely gone bad.

I was going to remove the radio (when I get the stupid tool). My hope is that the plug is just loose, but I am sure it is more than that. My next step would be to check each wire in the harness.

My questions is - what has been the past experience with this problem? Is this a common problem for the wire harness to go out?

Does anyone have the wire/color guide for the harness? I would like to at least check to see if the player is getting power to try to narrow things down.

Thanks!

This is an indash cd right? If so you should get a replacement from Ford, it is not detecting a disc. The harness only applies to the external changer. If you have the changer and the harness is bad it say "NO DJ" or something similar. If you have a changer and the cartridge is jammed or empty you would get "NO CD"

My Bad - left out that important detail. Yes, it is the external Cd Player.
