Post Is there an in dash am/fm/cd/cass

Who makes a good aftermarket am/fm/cd/cass radio, that is a direct replacement for the factory am/fm/cd. Must be in dash as I do not have captain chairs. I want the cd for music, but use the cassettes for educational purposes.

I do not know of anyone that makes an all-in-one unit that is a direct fit, but with some customizing on the factory opening, its possible.

Question

Hi,

Anyone familiar with the Pioneer FH-P8800?

http://www.pioneerusa.com/Pioneer/CD...29,525,00.html

It looks freakin awesome!!! I was looking into it but have some questions. Do you guys know if it'll fit in the opening? How much modification would be needed? Is it an easy job? Or does it needs to be done by a professional? Anything I should know about this unit? I NEED HELP!!!

Thanks.
Gavin

Be careful... You can't fit a Ford OEM CD/cassete in your F-150. I looked into this. I thought "its available for the Super Duty". The dealer directed me to the local Ford electronic repair shop. They showed me that the instrument pod is narrow behind the OEM radio. If you want Ford, its either CD or cassette.
As far as aftermarket, just about everybody offers a double DIN sized radio (perfect fit in front). However, you must check the rear clearance (which I do not know off the top of my head).

Hope this helps.

I fit a stock unit from a superduty in mine without any problems. I've had it for about 2 years now and no complaints. You just have to cut a little bit out of the brace to make the cd/cass radio fit. I used a dremel tool. It took about 20 minutes, but I was in no hurry.

I do have that Poineer Deck, but it is in my car and i dont know if it would fit in the truck or not. My integra has an opening that is just about perfect for a double DIN install but a little large, so I used a sheet of 1/4" smoked plexiglass and cut it to size, for both the opening and the deck, looks great. As for the install, I did it myself but it also depends on what else you plan on doing. If you only want the deck, you can buy an adapter that plugs into the factory harness for the stereo. This will hookup of speakers, and all power that is required...assuming that F150 stereo power is as strong as that supplied in my Integra...then you simply trimthe wires on the adapter, make connections to the corresponding wires on the harness that plugs into the deck and you are done the electrical work. As for the opening, I dont know.

J-150, yes the CD/Cassette OEM radios will fit. I put one in my SCrew. You have to cut the top away from the side at the back corners of the mounting bracket in the dash. Then bend the top up so it is level. I'll post a pic of the radio this weekend.

Here's a picture of my radio:

Sanyo Car Audio make a single din head unit that will fit in you truck with no cutting. It has CD, Cass., AM/FM and is rated at 35x4 high power output. It is the only single din combo unit out. They hold up well and have a strong warranty. You may look into one of those, the only thing you will need is a mounting kit and wire harness.

OK So what do we have to do to fit a Double Din radio in a 97 f150 dash. I've been looking at the Sony DW 4500X. Radio/cd/cassette combo. Priced at $290 from Discountave.com
