Question line converters in dash

Will my two line converters fit behind the dash of my 2001 lightning? Is there room with the factory premium radio , will it cause any problems? Thanks for any info.

I don't think it will fit behind the radio. But there is some room just to the left of the radio behind the dash that you might be able to strap them to. They also make four channel converters which are smaller than two - two channel converters. Most professionals I talked with say to keep the converter as close to the amp as possible. I don't know if it realy makes a difference.

The reason they recommend keeping the converters close to the amp is because speaker level signals are more immune to noise issues. Line or low level signals can pick up all kinds of noise in a vehicle environment. Just run good speaker wire back to the amps and put converters close to amps or use an amp with speaker level inputs and skip the converters all together.

Thanks for the info Norm. My situation is I've allready bought an MTX4405, and I have 2 brand new rockford fosgate stealth 3 meter RCA's. I'm so stubborn that it would kill me not to use the stuff I have. I'm a classic example of "bite off my nose, despite my face". Thanks again for the info though.

Anytime,
Your stuff will work fine. Just keep your power wires away from your signal wires.

kidd2001, if the lightning dash is the same as the SCrew you have room behind and to the right of the radio under the pizza shaped insert on top of the dash. I put mine there. Be careful of the pass. airbag
