Sub Thud

I just hooked up a new stereo yesterday, using the schosce wiring harness for a truck with the audiophile system. So there was the main harness, and a smaller harness that had a set of RCA's and two blue wires that said amp turn on on them. I wound up using one of those to go to the radios amp turn on lead, but now im getting a thud in the sub, when I turn the truck on even if the radio is off. Im wondering where else I could wire that into to stop that noise. If anyone has used this or has any suggestions it would be great. Thanks

Sounds like you hooked up everything correctly. First thing's first... check to make sure all of your connections are solid.

Did you run your RCA's next to your power cable? It may be picking up interference when the system powers up or down.

What amp do you have? Cheaper amps don't have a soft-start feature that dampens the current going to the output when the power is switched on.

I do not have any thump when my system powers up. Good luck!

I have the stock audiophile sub, but I think I figured out my isssue. After doing some more digging, I found out that the stock stereo puts out only 5v to the turn on lead to the factory sub, now im putting 12v with the aftermarket HU, so I had to buy a step down device to step the 12v to 5v and that should fix it. Ill see after this weekend. Thanks for the input.

Yup, put the drop down device in, and no more thud.
