Center Console Build - 05 F150

Well as the title states this will be a build thread following the build of my center console in my 05 crew cab XLT 4x4. I started out with 2 10" Rockford Fosgates R2D4-10s in an underseat box and ever since I've wanted more, I havent even had them for 4 months! (They are currently for sale with Rockford Amp and the underseat box right now. ).

Here are some pictures of the current set up that will be getting replaced:

I've already been told I'm crazy for doing this several times since the idea popped into my head. The plan is a ported center console with 4, yes FOUR RE Audio SRX10-D2. I received the SRX10s today and they are a very beefy well built speaker. I have a friend that has been doing audio work for over 20 years that will be helping me in the construction of the center console. Today we finalized the design and did all the calculations to ensure that we have as close to the 1ft^3 @ 35hz that is optimal for these speakers in a ported enclosure. We should be cutting wood on Thursday evening once I get off work.

Sorry about the poor picture quality, iphone pictures the rest of the build will be documented with my Nikon.

Here are some pictures of the RE Audio SRX10s

Look at the size of this magnet!

and of course my truck:

I'll be running the subwoofers with a Hifonics Brutus 1200.1D amplifier. 1200 watts RMS @ 1 ohm.

and before it happens :

Selling the box and subs?? How much? Link to for sale thread?? I wouldn't go ported, as it will take up more space than sealed.
I have been trying to figure out a way to get subs in the truck since I got it a few weeks ago. I wanna do 2 12's, but can't find a way

Ported is the goal no talking me out of it lol, one of the reason's I chose these woofers is the 0.65 ft^3 for recommended ported volume and 1ft^3 for optimal oh and all the reviews about how excellent they sound! No sale thread shoot me a PM if you're interested in them though.

Will do. WOW that is like no volume per sub at all hardly. I have been trying to figure out a way to get my 2 Kicker Comps in my truck without compromising the backseat to no avail. It seems your box may be te answer as they look totally clean under the seats. PM on the way and good luck with your sick 4-sub box build

Haven't started cutting wood yet, finalized the design it is going to have a little bit over 4.2 ft^3 total tuned to 35hz. Tomorrow we are going to finish the cardboard mock up and using that as a template we should be cutting wood (if I don't get too drunk at the Annual New Orleans Red Dress Run). We've decided to up-fire the subwoofers for optimal sound quality.

Here you guys go, a rough shape of what the console is going to look like. It's going to be closer to the .65 ft^3 but think about it 4 10s in a ported center console, this thing is going to hit so hard it might knock teeth out!

all four subs combined need that .65ft^3? Thats seems a little too small imo. Its gonna look good when its done tho.

Not to derail, i've been lookin at some SA-8 V.2's. And them little pigs need .5-.75ft^3 ported. Fittin two of those in a reg cab is near impossible lol.

No it will be .65 per woofer total volume I'm looking at a little under 3.5 ft^3 but thats without accounting for port/woofer displacement after that I should be at just a hair over .65 per sub. It will be getting polyfill as well though.

I have the first side and the bottom of the console cut, cupholder area is here. I need to buy my big 3 upgrade wires, and the material to cover the console. To be honest I've been distracted with my projector retrofit:

But I blew one of the Rockford subs so as soon as the headlights are completely finished it will be pedal to the metal on this center console build. I miss having bass, I also need to order 8 sets of components. That will consist of all 4 doors, a pair in kick-panels up front and a pair in the headliner by the back window in fiberglass pods. The headliner will be covered in suede after the components are installed.
