Aftermarket Antenna

Hey guys,

The stock antenna on my truck sux--is there an aftermarket antenna that will allow me to listen to FM stations without them suddenly breaking up into snow? I want one that looks stock, but maybe powered/amplified so that stations don't just die out suddenly then pop back up in perfect stereo two miles down the road? I've got an STX, do any of the higher-end models add a more competent set-up that might help?

I apologize about being vague, but about the only radio equipment I've ever worked on in my trucks was replacing stock cassette decks with aftermarket CD players so I'm not too savvy about my options here.

Thanks FordMan,

I've got it already, but there are a few terrestrial stations I really enjoy, as well. I've had one local guy tell me an amplified antenna would help, while another place told me the whole radio would need replacing.

Try pulling the antenna and look to see if there is any corrosion on the stud, matting surface, and in the threads of the antenna and if there is clean them up and put a little dielectric grease on it for protection. It is an electrical connection so the cleaner the contacts the better performance you will get.
