I've installed a HAM radio in my '09 reg cab. My 706 radio has a removable control head the radio is installed behind the seat but the control head is mounted on the dash. The tray on top of the dash is removed and a bracket of 1/8" polyethylene is made and bolted to the tray. The bracket is made to have the control head forward, even with the dash edge, and to the left of the tray.This makes it visible and accessible . Simple and effective.
